Strawflower CERAMICS

Strawflower Ceramics

Strawflower Ceramics crafts whimsical and everlasting handbuilt porcelain works. Uniquely vegan-friendly, each object, whether functional or sculptural, playfully blends artistry with activism.

The practice of multidisciplinary artist Jenna Sutch is informed by her background as an actor and director, with a Master of Directing from AFTRS and a Bachelor of Arts in Acting from NIDA. In her hands, clay becomes a storyteller, giving voice to animals and weaving their lives into form, each piece echoing her devotion to animal rights.

Jenna’s practice is driven by a distinctive childlike sense of wonder, expressed through bold colour, illustrative surfaces, and surprising sculptural elements that carry whimsy into functionality. Inspired by the personalities of her rescued chickens, her pieces reveal animals as individuals with humour, tenderness, and spirit. At once enchanting and provocative, they invite delight in the everyday while challenging viewers to reflect on how daily rituals, and the choices woven within them, connect to the lives of all sentient beings.

Pristine porcelain, delicate and glowing yet strong and enduring like a strawflower, serves as her primary medium. It provides the perfect canvas for her distinctive hand-drawn details while preserving the imprint of her fingers, transforming each work into a tactile companion to be cherished.
